I spent a very enjoyable but wet afternoon at Taunton Racecourse on Saturday, primarily researching Kickback but also soaking up the atmosphere. It was a very wild day and the course only just passed a 7.30am inspection. Torrential rain all night and then throughout the day, it was a marvel that racing went ahead at all.
I was keen to get an idea of the layout…parade ring, grandstands, betting ring…that sort of thing. I also discovered that they go clockwise at Taunton. Thank heavens I spotted that! It would have made for a stupid mistake. At Exeter they go anticlockwise.
Kickback is still on target for publication at the end of February.
